Sugar apples, also known as Kachiman in Haiti and sweetsop in Jamaica and other Caribbean regions, are a staple in traditional remedies. The leaves of the sugar apple tree are used in teas for menstrual problems, fever, bloating, and digestion, as well as in baths to soothe rheumatic pain. The extract of the leaves is also used to treat various ailments, including diarrhea and prostate cancer. Additionally, in India, the leaves are used for hysteria and fainting spells and applied on ulcers and wounds. The ripe fruit is also used as a remedy for tumors when mixed with salt.
